AXIS Dance Company is one of the only professional dance companies in the US that provides dance education to people with disabilities. With your support AXIS can provide a person with a disability with a dance class that provides both a physical and creative outlet. Your support could also bring an AXIS dance performance to an elementary school, exposing them to dance by people with and without disabilities performing together as EQUALS.

The Need
Dance is a universal language that unites all people and uplifts our spirits. But many people with disabilities are excluded from dance opportunities. In fact they are not encouraged to be physically active or to be in touch with their physical beings. Physical activity often comes in the form of therapy and represents something that is being done to them. People with disabilities can be at high risk of depression, substance abuse, and poor self-image. Dance helps build self-confidence, self esteem and social skills. As a non-competitive group activity, dance is a wonderful choice as a sport , recreation and creative outlet.
