Empower the Girls of Nepal
Ignite and cultivate self-worth and leadership potential of girls in Nepal, targeting the lowest caste. 4GGL in Nepal is a co-created project WITH the locals - Empowering Women in Nepal, a registered non-government organization – to uplift the poorest girls, transforming them to valuable resource that families and communities VALUE. Your gift will help train 1 woman who will reach at least 10 additional local girls.
The suffering of girls in the developing world is pandemic. From acid attacks to child marriage, sex trafficking to violent rapes in war zones, girls are not valued in many societies. Their fundamental human rights are violated everyday. The need is even more urgent in Nepal with their traditional caste system. A girl who is born into the lowest caste is deemed worthless from the day she is born. The result is women slave in homes and businesses. For example, 10,000 9-16 year old girls are trafficked from Nepal to India, every year, with 200,000 Nepalese girls involved in the Indian sex trade. And as India’s economy grows, sex trafficking will only grow, NOT decrease.
About 4Girls GLocal Leadership
Partner since January, 2011
4Girls GLocal Leadership (4GGL) is a social change organization and the only movement valuing and investing in the world’s poorest girls as a powerful lever to bring about profound change our world needs. Its mission is to ignite, cultivate, and promote girls' leadership development locally in poor countries, to advance gender equity globally. It is also a bold social change movement – the 4GGL Movement - to value and invest in the world's poorest girls, tackling the root of gender inequity, not just the symptoms of poverty and injustice the girls suffer. Founding Director, Jin In, launched 4GGL because girls are NOT valued in many societies. From aborting baby girls and acid attacks to child marriage and sex trafficking, girls’ fundamental human rights are violated every day. Therefore, 4GGL is brining a new vision - a world where every girl’s inherent worth and leadership potential is recognized, providing girls the opportunity to empower themselves and change their world. We are a multigenerational women’s leadership model that trains and mentors local young women in developing countries as "4GGL Local Trainers" - local agents for change and future women leaders.
