You can help fund a Mayan history and cultural education class for indigenous Guatemalan children. During November and December every year, when regular school is not in session, your gift to the The Aid & Ed Project will sponsor classes on Maya history and culture in "Vacation Maya Schools".

The Need
For most of us, it would be impossible to imagine a life where we know nothing of our ancestors, who they were, their language and literature, where they came from, their art & architecture, how they communicated, or how they lived. Unfortunately, that is the exact situation in the Maya world today. While North Americans and Europeans study this fascinating culture in school, the descendants of that culture have little or no opportunity to learn about their own past in regular school. Almost all of the students in the Aid & Ed Project’s programs are indigenous children descended from the ancient Maya. While the Maya culture is a strong living tradition today, The Aid & Ed Project helps reinforce and preserve this ancient culture and its traditions.
