Give a Prenatal Examination in Nepal
Nepali village midwives provide regular prenatal examinations that include a history and physical examination and pregnancy counseling. For just $30, you can help Himilayan Healthcare administer tetanus immunization and provide a supply of vitamins, iron, and folic acid to one pregnant woman in Nepal.

The Need
Pregnancy and delivery are precarious times for village women without adequate nutrition, an understanding of pregnancy and delivery and health care for the mother. Midwives help assure the health of the mother and her baby by providing care that has been proven to improve the outcome of the pregnancy. The midwives provide regular exams during the pregnancy and continue to follow the mother and child after delivery including providing routine childhood guidance for the family and childhood immunizations. If a problem is detected before delivery the midwife will refer the woman to a city medical center where Himalayan Healthcare will help her obtain medical care.
About Himalayan Healthcare
Partner since November, 2010
Himalayan HealthCare began in 1992 to create sustainable development programs in the remote areas of Nepal in order to improve the quality of life for its people. Himalayan HealthCare achieves its mission by providing primary healthcare, community education, and income generation programs that enable people to be self-supporting. They are non-governmental, non-profit and non-sectarian. Some of their outreach programs have specifically targeted women because Nepal is one of the very few countries where the life expectancy of women is less than that of men.
