Provide Tutoring to Indigenous Guatemalan Children
Preparing indigenous children in rural Guatemala to succeed in school is vital to helping them break the cycle of extreme poverty. Your gift to this project will pay for an entire year of tutoring for a k'iche'-speaking elementary student in the village of Pasac in Nahualá Sololá.

The Need
60% of the population in Guatemala does not graduate from elementary school and rural communities suffer up to 70% illiteracy. Moreover, the average household income of students in the tutoring program is 2 USD or less per day. By investing in elementary students from these families, the Roots and Wings International tutoring program encourages children and prepares them to continue beyond elementary school so they have a means to break out of poverty. The Roots & Wings Intl. tutoring center serves the needs of children in the rural village of Pasac in Nahualá, Sololá, approximately 3.5 hours from Guatemala City.
