Help to educate women and girls in Afghanistan. This gift will help towards increasing female literacy rates in Afghanistan. You can sponsor a female student's education in either a lower level literacy course (called Sowat Amausi which literally means 'to teach one to become literate') or throughout her higher level literacy courses (called Sowat Hayati which translates to 'literate for life'). Lower level courses include an accelerated 10-month curriculum covering grades 1-3 and higher level courses cover grades 4-9 in six years.

Machik is proud to support Palmo Tsho, a tibetian nomad's daughter and her pioneering work to create literary spaces where Tibetan women, writing in their mother tongue, can explore their identity and share their voices with their communities. Palmo currently publishes an annual journal of women's poetry called Sholung, and a tri-annual newspaper-style journal focusing on women's issues called Snowland Tibetan Women's Journal. Your sponsorship will support one story or essay from a Tibetan woman for publication in the tri-annual Snowland Tibetan Women's Journal, which is produced both in print and digitally.

Machik founded the Mother's Wish Program in 2003 and it has since become a local NGO called Mother’s Wish Foundation (MWF). Your support to the MWF will help provide a scholarship for a rural low-income girl in Amdo or for girl to attend and board at the Chungba Middle School in Kham.

MADRE is working with a group of Palestinian and Israeli midwives to help women safely deliver their babies. Your support of this project will help train and equip certified midwives in the West Bank to help women safely deliver their babies. Your gift can provide "safe birth" medical kits, portable ultrasound devices, pre-natal supplements or will support joint trainings for Israeli and Palestinian midwives.

You can help women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence or are threatened with "honor killing" by providing a means and social support to escape dangererous circumstances and begin to build a new life. Your gift to this project offers transportation, shelter, necessities, and medical care to women and children escaping violent situations in communities throughout Iraq.

You can help free enslaved Nepali girls. Working closely with local communities, NYOF helps parents bring their daughters home from the city and provides a tiny piglet or goat - much valued in this culture - which the families can raise and sell for the same amount their daughters would have earned if sold as bonded servents. Your gift to NYOF will help bring these girls home and pay for all expenses for them to attend the local school.
